Project status
The roadmap
- Core idea – in place. Site found, variants sketched, initiative founded.
- Feasibility – in progress. The project team is examining discharge, head, types of construction and rough costs.
- Talks – in progress. First talks with surfers and in the municipal sphere have taken place; the Rems Water Board (Wasserverband Rems), the district office (Landratsamt, water law) and the Stuttgart Regional Council (Regierungspräsidium) will follow.
- Concept – open. Founding a club, ecological assessment, funding concept, preliminary design.
- Implementation – open. Water-law procedure, construction, operation.

September 2026 – New website. The Remswelle gets a knowledge section on river waves and a map of all waves in the German-speaking countries.
May 2025 – The Schorndorfer Nachrichten present the idea: „Eine Welle zum Surfen in der Rems: Robin Haiss’ kühne Idee für Winterbach“ ("A wave for surfing in the Rems: Robin Haiss's bold idea for Winterbach"; Reinhold Manz, zvw.de, 18 May 2025).
September 2025 – The Remswelle initiative is founded.
